Please take action today by reaching out to your Connecticut state lawmakers to support SB120, An Act Concerning the Use of Chlorpyrifos on Golf Courses and Neonicotinoids for Nonagricultural use. This bill is critically important to make up for protections the federal EPA failed to implement for people, pets, and pollinators. Although EPA eliminated chlorpyrifos in agriculture, the chemical can still be used on sites like golf courses. And despite strong evidence that neonicotinoids are killing bees, EPA has refused to restrict the use these chemicals on lawns and landscapes.
SB120 fills in the gaps left by EPA's incomplete, industry-influenced review process by banning all remaining uses of chlorpyrifos and eliminating all cosmetic uses of neonicotinoids.
It is critical that your state elected officials hear your support for this legislation. The pesticide industry is working hard to influence your lawmakers—so we need to be as loud as possible!
Please consider following up this message with a phone call directly to your elected officials. Connecticut has always been a leader in passing crucial legislation to restrict pesticide use, but it has been five years since any new pesticide laws have been passed. We are up against a powerful industry that has tremendous power in Hartford. The only way our legislators will take action to PROTECT PEOPLE, PETS AND POLLINATORS IS IF THEY HEAR FROM US! Please share far and wide.
