Tigers don't belong at football games!

The message was clear: the general public DID NOT want Omar the tiger to be brought to a recent LSU football game. People spoke out and local polls showed 90% of people opposed the stunt. However, Louisinana Governor Jeff Landry thought it was an excellent idea and went forward with it anyway. Omar was trucked in all the way from Florida by his "owner" Mitchel Kalmanson, who has dozens of USDA Animal Welfare Act violations.

At the game, videos showed Omar surrounded by people in an incredibly noisy stadium. He pants heavily, paces, and snarls - signs of clear distress.

Tigers are NOT entertainment. They should not be used as props at a football game or for any other reason. Speak out and let Gov. Landry know what you think of his profoundly selfish and irresponsible decision!

I was shocked to learn that you organized for a live tiger to be present at a recent LSU football game.

Promoting tiger/human interaction is incredibly dangerous and extremely negligent on your part. Not only does it perpetuate the breeding of tigers for entertainment, which results in countless tiger deaths, but it puts the public at risk. Diminishing the inherent risks involved in tiger/human interactions by bringing one to a football game is grossly irresponsible.

The general public no longer supports the use and abuse of animals for a moment of unnecessary and frivolous gawking. Tormenting Omar the tiger, who was in obvious distress at the commotion, noise, and confinement involved with his attendance at the game, is absolutely vile.

To add insult to injury, you used problematic exhibitor Mitchel Kalmanson whose history of USDA violations is readily available online.

Please avoid harmful actions like this in the future and focus on bringing Louisiana into the future, not the past.
