In the face of a deadly pandemic, most of us immediately think of people: our friends, our families, and those on the front lines fighting to keep communities safe.
However, the Trump administration has taken a different tack. Instead of doing everything in their power to keep Americans healthy and economically stable, they've made it clear that their primary concern is to shovel bailout money to major corporations.
This is corruption, plain and simple.
American Airlines has secured $5.8 billion in taxpayer money since the COVID-19 crisis started. Delta is only just behind them at $5.4 billion, and United Airlines is raking in a still impressive $5 billion. Could the administration be desperate to help these corporations because they all gave hundreds of thousands of dollars to support Trump politically?
Meanwhile, all the American people got was $1,200. That's barely enough for many to cover rent -- and it's coming too late to pay missed bills from April 1.
And while Americans shelter in place, the administration is taking advantage of our distraction to bail out Big Oil by sneakily rolling back environmental protections and selling off hundreds of thousands of acres of our public lands in dirt cheap lease sales to big oil and gas corporations.
We're disgusted. And if you've read this far -- you should be too.
Sign on to add your name and demand that the Trump administration turn their attention to helping Americans suffering in the face of COVID-19, not their big corporate buddies.
