I'm writing today to encourage you to fund enhanced eligibility for Medicare Savings Programs under SB 122.  Enhancing eligibility will ensure that more older adults have access to affordable health care.

Many older adults are struggling to afford the out-of-pocket costs not covered by Medicare, including premiums, co-payments, and deductibles. New Hampshire's Medicare Savings Programs (MSPs) are key in helping low-income individuals pay for some of these costs.  SB 122 offers real financial help to older Granite Staters because the monthly savings from MSPs can be used to pay for basic needs including housing, heat, or food.

The bill would enhance MSP eligibility, which will improve health outcomes, reduce financial burdens, and strengthen the health of New Hampshire communities. Allowing older adults to keep resources to pay for property taxes, home or car repairs, or in-home care is a way to promote home care over more costly nursing facility care.
 
Again, I urge you to support enhanced eligibility for MSPs to allow more low-income older adults to receive help paying for health care. Thank you for your consideration.
