What is attainable housing?
Finding a place to afford to rent or buy in Montgomery County is a real challenge. Expanding our housing choices with more attainable housing types like duplexes/triplexes/quadplexes, townhomes, and small apartment buildings can help us provide more affordable, convenient, and transit-accessible housing options for different people at different stages of our lives.
The county's Planning Board has proposed a slate of attainable housing measures to provide more of these housing options and increase affordability. But residents concerned about change are pushing back.
Share your personal housing story with the County Council
Our personal stories are powerful! Maybe living in a duplex/triplex/quadplex, townhome, or a small apartment building was the right fit for you at a different time in your life. Maybe one of these options would be a great fit for you or the people you love now, or in the future—providing a more affordable or convenient alternative to existing housing options.
Share your housing story and explain why YOU believe attainable housing is for you, your family, and your community. Your story will be shared with the County Council, and used in advocacy materials (with your first name and city only) to help others understand how these housing choices will benefit our county.
