Alaska Youth for Environmental Action (AYEA) was founded in 1998 by six teenagers from Kodiak and Anchorage with the mission to “inspire, educate and take action on environmental issues facing our diverse communities.” Today AYEA is a network of young people, adult mentors, and other community volunteers that have engaged thousands of youth across the state with critical skill-building in leadership, community organizing, and civic engagement. AYEA teens participate in trainings, and take action on issues impacting their local communities and our state. AYEA became a program of The Alaska Center Education Fund in 2013. There are several AYEA chapters in rural and urban communities, and individual youth participants throughout the state. Join AYEA today!
