I am writing to urge you to advance AB 260 (Aguiar-Curry) - Protecting Medication Abortion out of the Assembly Appropriations Committee.

This bill strengthens and expands access to abortion care by affirming the legal use of Mifepristone, protecting providers and facilities, enhancing provider safety, ensuring continued coverage for medication abortion, and expanding access to telehealth.

Mifepristone, one of the drugs used in medication abortion, has been approved and extensively studied for 25 years. These decades of research confirm that medication abortion is both safe and effective. Today, medication abortion is the least invasive, preferred option for abortion care, accounting for over two-thirds of all abortions provided in the United States.

Unfortunately, there are looming federal threats that could reduce access to abortion, including the use of Mifepristone. We need AB 260 to make sure that reproductive health care remains legal, accessible, and safe for patients, providers, and facilities.

I respectfully urge you to pass AB 260 out of the Assembly Appropriations Committee.
