Our democracy remains under attack. It has been almost two years since Trump incited an insurrection against our democracy on January 6, followed hours later by 147 Republicans voting to overturn the 2020 presidential election. Republicans have blocked reforms necessary to ensure the security of our elections as well as broader structural reforms, including making it easier to vote, eliminating gerrymandering, and reducing the power of dark money. Comprehensive voting rights and election reform is critical, and the Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) remains committed to advocating for broad voting rights reform.

The only legislation that has a chance of passing while Democrats still maintain a majority in the House is the Electoral Count Reform Act of 2022. This critical bill reforms how Congress counts electoral votes to certify elections and is a significant first step to protecting our democracy and ensuring the peaceful transition of power.
