Support adding Multiracial History to Education Curriculum in Michigan!

We know Michigan students engage more and learn better when they feel represented at school. Together, we can create a future where our children and their families' histories are reflected in their classrooms by including the stories and contributions of a wide range of communities who all call Michigan home.

The Teach MI History campaign is advocating for inclusive Michigan histories to be included in the K-12 social studies curriculum to enhance student engagement and learning overall. The ethnic and cultural groups are:

  • African American communities;
  • Asian American and Pacific Islander communities;
  • Arab, African, North African, and Chaldean American communities, including those from immigrant, refugee and asylee communities;
  • Jewish communities;
  • Latin American communities;
  • Native American and Indigenous communities.

We are a broad coalition of students, parents, teachers, and community advocates fighting to ensure all Michigan students feel seen and heard in the classroom so they can excel. Our students deserve the best, and providing curricula that reflect their stories will help achieve this goal while engaging them more in their own learning.

Sign this petition today to support an education for all Michigan students that reflects their communities' journeys and histories! Let's demand the best education for our students!
