Contact your City Councilor, Mayor Kim Norton, and City Administrator Alison Zelms using the form below, asking them to make a commitment to increased resources for sustainability to take advantage of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) opportunity as a city.
In Rochester, we believe that a healthy city depends on a healthy climate. We want to see all our neighbors, regardless of race, neighborhood, or income benefit from the huge opportunity presented to us through the federal Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). IRA funds, in the form of community grants and individual incentives, can enable us to reduce energy costs, lower climate pollution, and improve our health--not to mention save us money.
At the Monday, October 16 City Council meeting, City Councilors opened a discussion around dedicating more resources and attention to sustainability, particularly to take advantage of the IRA. However, they have not yet made a concrete commitment to doing this, instead directing staff to make a recommendation by the end of the year.
You can send the form as-is, or personalize by sharing why climate and sustainability are important to you.
