Vermont's popular Bottle Bill was enacted in 1972. It's been a huge success for our environment and economy, but after nearly 50 years, it needs an update. This is the year to make it happen.

VPIRG is advocating for the passage of H.175, a bill that would modernize Vermont's Bottle Bill by including more beverage containers in the program such as water bottles, sports drinks, and wine. More than 4 out of 5 Vermonters support expanding the scope of the law in this way. The bill has already passed the House and will move to the Senate next legislative session.
