The climate emergency is an existential threat to people and the planet. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report of 2023 tells us we have one last chance and every public and government official at all levels of governance must act to protect the public from the worst impacts of climate change. It's time to rise to the occasion. The Biden administration has already made headway by passing the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) but we need to take more action to build off this momentum and declare a climate emergency! 

We need the Federal Government to declare a climate emergency under the National Emergencies Act, and take the following steps immediately:

1. DECLARE A CLIMATE EMERGENCY to shift off fossil fuels and boost renewables.
2. PHASE OUT FOSSIL FUELS and revoke existing approved projects and phase out existing production.
3. CUT POLLUTION by having stronger standards and holding polluters accountable.

La emergencia climática es una amenaza existencial para las personas y el planeta. El informe del Grupo Intergubernamental de Expertos sobre el Cambio Climático (IPCC) de 2023 indican que esta es nuestra última oportunidad para que funcionarios públicos y gubernamentales tomen acción para protegernos de los estragos del cambio climático. La administracion de Biden ya aprobó el Inflation Reduction Act, pero urge que tomemos mas accion para construir de ese momento para declarar una emergencia climática!

Necesitamos que el Gobierno Federal declare una emergencia climática en virtud de la Ley de Emergencias Nacionales y toma las siguientes medidas de inmediato:

1. DECLARA UNA EMERGENCIA CLIMÁTICA para abandonar los combustibles fósiles e impulsar las energías renovables.
2. ELIMINA LOS COMBUSTIBLES FÓSILES: revoca los proyectos aprobados existentes y elimina gradualmente la producción existente.
3. REDUCE LA CONTAMINACIÓN al tener estándares más estrictos y responsabiliza a los contaminadores.
