Juneteenth is celebrated in Black communities throughout the U.S. in remembrance of the day June 19, 1863, that Black people in Texas received word of the "Emancipation" Proclamation. It is also a day to continue the struggle for liberation and justice: reparations and quality jobs, education, housing, healthcare for all.
