Too many Coloradans cannot afford the bedrock of their wellbeing - a home.

Colorado is in the midst of an affordable housing crisis, worsened by the pandemic and economic downtown. People are struggling to afford to live near where they work, and are often forced to cut back on basic necessities just to keep a roof over their head.

A stable, affordable home is a key determinant of good health. Families paying excessive amounts of their income for housing often have insufficient resources remaining or other essential needs, including food, medical insurance, and health care. These tradeoffs can threaten the health of all family members, particularly children.

At Healthier Colorado, we are fighting to expand access to stable and affordable housing for all Coloradans. This year, we helped pass statewide legislation that gives local governments the authority to require affordable housing options in new development projects. But there is still more work to do and we need your support.
