Erie County United is a non-partisan grassroots cooperative that builds coalitions of community, labor, education, environmental and social justice organizations around issues, policies, & politics affecting communities of color, the working class, the poor, the disabled, and those most vulnerable to the corruption of power. ECU believes power should be collective, not just in the hands of the powerful few. We have advocated for a universal basic income (UBI) pilot in Erie to address our childhood poverty rate of 44% as well as our reproductive rights.
Being a cooperative member means you have a stake in Erie County United: a shared ownership and responsibility for our community's future. To be able to build independent political power we must be a cooperative that is proudly self-funded by members rather than driven by outside interests. By being member driven we are creating the freedom to choose the issues that are most important to our community. Together, we're building a civic force capable of producing real change.
