North Carolina children need Medicaid!

Dear [elected official],

Sincerely, [Your information here]

Medicaid means better health for kids
When parents and caregivers have health coverage, children are more likely to be covered as well. Early and regular access to healthcare means that kids and families can grow up happy, healthy, and ready for the future.

Medicaid helps children with special health care needs
Medicaid is a major source of coverage for children with special health care needs—and in North Carolina, 49% of children with special health care needs are covered by Medicaid/CHIP, accoring to KFF.

Medicaid helps hardworking families and caregivers
Most of those covered by Medicaid are working – sometimes in multiple jobs – but don't earn enough to qualify for a private marketplace plan. Many work in essential jobs like child care and early education, food service, construction, and nursing homes.

Medicaid Expansion means a stronger economy and stronger healthcare delivery systems
With North Carolina Medicaid Expansion came $1.67 billion in federal funding that our state is using to strengthen rural healthcare and increase access to behavioral health resources across the state. A press release from the NC Office of State Budget Management says that the increased funds flowing into the medical sector can help increase our stability in our healthcare workforce, increase state tax revenue by $200 million annually, and increase county tax revenues by $43 million annually. This increased economic activity is good for North Carolina's families and small businesses.
