Factory farming interests are at it again—and this time, they're working with their allies in Congress to ram through a new Farm Bill that would gut crucial protections for animals.
House Agriculture Committee Chairman GT Thompson just announced plans to pass a “Farm Bill 2.0” by September. He plans to include language that would undermine California's Proposition 12—a landmark law that bans the sale of products that are the result of cruel cage confinement of egg-laying chickens, mother pigs, and baby veal calves.
Proposition 12 is the strongest farm animal protection law in the world. And it was upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court. But Big Ag and their allies in Congress want to strip states of the right to set humane standards for animal products sold within their borders. That's not just undemocratic—it's a giveaway to the worst actors in the pork industry.
We can't let them get away with it.
Congress needs to hear from you right now: NO anti-Prop 12 provisions in the Farm Bill 2.0.
Take action today to protect animals and defend states' rights to adopt higher welfare standards.
Tell your legislators: Stand strong against attacks on Prop 12 and farmed animals.
