The fourth session of Be Well: Sacred Circles will focus on Care Navigation & Accessing Resources. We will discuss our current needs, the barriers that exist to fulfill those needs, and hear from people who work to support mothers/birthing persons in providing tangible resources and alleviating the burden of those needs.
Be Well Perinatal Events are open to only Black moms and birthing people up to two years after giving birth. Presented by Ohio Women's Alliance in partnership with POEM Rise for Black moms, all events are developed and executed by Black experts with lived experience with the goal of helping Black moms and birthing people heal and thrive. Ohio Women's Alliance is a power-building Reproductive Justice organization providing programming, resources, and education for women, gender-expansive folks, and youth throughout Ohio. Rooted in the foundations of Reproductive Justice, our mission is to transform Ohio into a state where all people can truly thrive through access to safe communities, equitable education, holistic health care and wellness, inclusive and representative democracy, and economic prosperity.
Rise is a branch of POEM created by and for Black moms and birthing persons because we are more likely to experience perinatal mental health complications yet less likely to receive quality care and support. We Rise as a direct response to gaps in care, offering culturally matched peer support, care navigation, education, advocacy, and awareness while centering the unique and individualized needs of Black moms and birthing persons. Click here to connect to peer support with other Black moms and birthing persons who have experienced a perinatal mental health complication and are now in recovery. We can also provide care navigation, including referrals to Black and other mental health providers who identify as POC (persons of color). Voice and text support line: (614) 315-8989.
