During this unprecedented time, many families are in serious trouble. Aside from worrying about the deadly virus surging across LA County, many are facing the possibility of losing their very homes.
But there is proposed legislation that could throw them a lifeline. Assembly Bill 15 extends the COVID-related eviction protections from Assembly Bill 3088 (2020) through the end of the year; Assembly Bill 16 would solve the issue of COVID-related rent and mortgage debt with several proposed measures including a permanent ban on evicting tenants who missed a rent payment because of COVID-19, and a system of rent forgiveness and a transfer of unpaid rent debt from property owners to the state government. These bills are urgent, because millions of Californians are teetering on the brink. Join us in sending the message to our state assemblymembers and senators.
