Footwear manufacturer Wolverine Worldwide is responsible for widespread PFAS contamination in Rockford, MI, the location of the company's decommissioned tannery facility. While operating the tannery, Wolverine Worldwide dumped toxic PFAS chemicals, contaminating drinking water of surrounding communities.
After being ordered by a judge to clean up the mess, Wolverine World Wide has dragged its feet and delayed the process. Now, it's proposing a plan that is wholly inadequate and would not stop PFAS from flowing into the Rogue River and surrounding waterways.
The Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) is currently considering the new plan, and is accepting public comments until January 27. We need your help to tell EGLE to reject the plan.
Wolverine's careless dumping of PFAS chemicals has contaminated the drinking water of local residents, causing serious health complications. No amount of PFAS chemicals are safe, and the Rockford community has suffered for far too long.
Tell EGLE to reject the plan, hold Wolverine accountable and make them clean up their mess.
