Public trust in the Supreme Court is at an all-time low. The nine justices of the Supreme Court are largely unaccountable to the American people, whose lives they change with each new ruling. The Supreme Court should be the gold standard for judicial ethics, but today the justices are falling far short of that standard. While judges at every other level of our federal courts are bound by an enforceable code of ethics, Supreme Court Justices are not. Because of this, corruption within the Court has run rampant.
Justice Thomas's utter disregard for ethical standards and violation of public disclosure law is unacceptable and must be stopped. The latest scandal discovered by ProPublica shows that Justice Thomas secretly participated in Koch Network donor events. He also accepted dozens of luxury vacations from billionaire political donor Harlan Crow. These vacations, which included the use of Crow's private jet and yacht trips, totaled several million dollars in value. The gifts were not disclosed as required by federal law. Enough is enough.
Join us in urging all members of Congress to call for Justice Thomas to resign immediately and call upon Congressional leadership to use their power to initiate investigations into his misconduct, as he has done irreparable damage to public trust in the judiciary.
PETITION
Our justice system is only fair when we can rely on justices and judges to rule impartially — not out of a desire to protect their spouses, to support anti-democratic activities, or for personal gain.
Supreme Court ethics has come to national attention recently due to numerous instances of Justice Thomas's corrupt behavior. His utter disregard for ethical standards and violation of public disclosure law is unacceptable and must be stopped. I am urging all members of Congress to call for Justice Thomas to resign immediately and call upon Congressional leadership to use their power to initiate investigations into his misconduct, as he has done irreparable damage to public trust in the judiciary.
Justice Thomas has proven time and again that he cannot be trusted to act in the best interest of the people that he serves. Therefore, I am calling for his immediate resignation. I urge you to call for Justice Thomas's resignation and call upon Congressional leadership to use its power to initiate investigations into his misconduct immediately, as he has done irreparable damage to public trust in the judiciary.
