PLEASE CONTACT YOUR LEGISLATORS TO ASK THEM TO SUPPORT INCARCERATED FAMILIES!
The Keeping Families Connected Coalition is excited to build off our success in winning No Cost Calls with our next campaign to improve family connections through visits to loved ones in prison and jail. We have just filed an updated bill with sponsors Sen. Miranda and Rep. Decker, “An Act to Build Restorative Family and Community Connection” (S.1720/H.2591) to protect access to daily visits, eliminate draconian caps on the number of visitors someone can see, create child-friendly spaces, and reduce discrimination, especially regarding alleged dress code violations. By instituting a fair process to facilitate visits that sustain people during periods of incarceration, this bill promotes the well-being of Commonwealth residents and successful re-entry to the community.
As our new two-year legislative session just began, we are launching our co-sponsorship drive to generate early support from legislators for this bill. With thousands of bills filed each session, the number of cosponsors early on is important to raise the profile of this bill. Join us in taking action to call your legislators to urge them to co-sponsor this bill! You can learn more here.
If you are able to call instead of email, please use this guide to do so. Some say one call is worth 100 emails!
You can enter your information below to easily send this email to your legislators OR you can find your legislator at this link and call them using the script below to ask them to co-sponsor the bill.

I am calling as a constituent to ask ________ to co-sponsor “An Act to Build Restorative Family and Community Connection” (S.1720/H.2591).
This bill will strengthen family and community connections by ensuring visits with incarcerated individuals are much more accessible. This bill would protect access to daily visits, eliminate draconian caps on the number of visitors someone can see, create child-friendly spaces, and reduce discrimination.
This is important to me because in-person visits are a lifeline for so many people and this bill would help keep families connected by making visits more accessible. (***OR*** say why this bill is important to you).
Will _______ sign on as a cosponsor for this bill?
