I’m so proud to see sponsoring Council Member Aaron Bowman joined on this important legislation by so many cosponsors -- Council Members Matt Carlucci, Rory Diamond, LeAnna Cumber, Brenda Priestly Jackson, Joyce Morgan, Tommy Hazouri, and Ju’Coby Pittman.  I also appreciate the visible support for the Ordinance demonstrated by Mayor Curry and Council Members Randy DeFoor, Reggie Gaffney, Michael Boylan, Terrance Freeman, Ron Salem, Scott Wilson, and Garret Dennis.

Re-enacting the protections in this Ordinance makes clear that Jacksonville is open to all, and it affirms that no one should be discriminated against for who they are or who they love.  That message of acceptance and affirmation of all members of the Jacksonville community is critically important at this moment.

Public support for these LGBT protections has only grown since the original passage in 2017, and I look forward to your vote in support on Tuesday, June 9.
