Urge the Secretary Haaland: Adopt 3 Key Principles for the Wild Horse & Burro Program

This is our time! This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the 1971 Wild, Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act.

We must push and push to get the change that is so desperately needed. Over the last 50 years, the government has lost its way in managing America's beloved wild horses and burros. To ensure the Wild Horse and Burro program is fair and humane, we are calling on the Interior Secretary Haaland to adopt three guiding principles for the management of America's beloved Wild Horses & Burros:

(1) protect the "Wild" in wild horses and burros;

(2) ensure wild horses and burros get their fair share on our public lands; and

(3) fix the woefully inadequate “humane” standards for management actions.

When implemented, these overarching guidelines will restore the original protections that Americans called for and that Congress intended for wild horses and burros in the original 1971 Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act.

Please submit your comments to Interior Secretary Haaland and the Acting BLM Director Nada Culver.
