Urge CA State Assembly Members to Ban Diet Pills!

Over-the-counter diet pills and weight-loss supplements deceptively claim to promote healthy weight loss, but these products are dangerous! Few consumers realize that weight-loss supplements are not required by the FDA to prove safety or efficacy before entering the market. FDA regulation is so weak that these products have been repeatedly found to be laced with dangerous chemicals, including banned pharmaceuticals, laxatives, and excessive stimulants – which have led to stroke, heart attack and even death in consumers. Alarmingly, there are no age restrictions on the sale of these products, even though we know from research that teens who start using these products are at much greater risk of being diagnosed with an eating disorder within just a few years.

You can change this! California Assembly Member Cristina Garcia has introduced legislation AB 1341 in the state legislature to ban the sale of these products to children younger than 18 years old in California. The bill will be voted on by the full California Assembly this Thursday. There is no time to waste! This bill won't move forward unless many more state lawmakers sign up to coauthor the bill and pledge to support the bill when it comes up for votes this month.

Please email your California state assembly member and urge them to support AB 1341 TODAY!
