After historic turnout and increased mail-in voting in 2020, Republicans are beginning to plan for the 2022 midterm election with concerted efforts to suppress the vote. Halfway into 2021, 49 states have introduced more than 400 Republican-backed voter suppression measures in state legislatures. Additionally, at least 18 states have enacted 30 laws that restrict access to the vote.
The need for legal measures to protect our democracy and elections has never been more urgent. The For the People Act (H.R.1, S.1) would defend our democratic elections from voter suppression efforts at the state level by supporting clean and fair elections. House Democrats passed the For the People Act by a vote of 220-210. Senate Democrats unanimously voted to pass the bill, however, it was blocked by Senate Republicans.

The right to vote is not a partisan issue, it's an American issue. Write to your Senators to express your disapproval of Republicans blocking the For the People Act. Urge them to support efforts to protect and expand the right to vote.
