Shelby County Voter Alliance Events
#SeekingJustice Voter Pledge
  • Do you believe in a community that includes safety for all, regardless of race, zip code, or financial status?
  • Do you believe in a justice system that seeks the truth at all phases of the legal process?
  • Do you believe that Shelby County needs a justice system that is fair, equitable, transparent, and responsive to the needs of all residents?

As you have heard throughout MICAH's Seeking Justice town hall series, MICAH has been highlighting just a few reform issues within the county's criminal justice system that could have a significant impact on justice in our community. For far too long, Shelby County has been the most incarcerated county in the state and the impact on the community is most telling in the continued violence and poverty that impacts us all. What the County's criminal legal system and its public officials have been doing is not only ineffective but harmful to the economic, relational, and social well being of Shelby County and our neighbors.

Please join with MICAH in telling our public officials to:

  1. Stop transferring youth who have not committed violent acts to the adult system.
  2. Reduce pretrial detention for those who are being held for minor offenses or technical violations.
  3. Create and implement a Conviction Review Unit to help ensure that justice and truth are sought even after a judgment has been entered.
  4. Seek to re-invest in our communities and our people rather than breaking up families and incarcerating those who are suffering with a mental illness.

And then, pledge to vote for justice.

At MICAH, we believe that we are called to seek justice, love mercy and walk humbly with our God, so join us as we SEEK JUSTICE and VOTE LOCAL at the ballot box this May, August, and November.
