Shell companies like LLCs were at the heart of the Panama Papers and Pandora Papers scandals, which revealed trillions of dollars in assets hidden in offshore shell companies by billionaires and oligarchs around the world. And you need less personal information to register an LLC than a library card! 

In New York State:

• Anonymous LLCs allow employers to play shell games to avoid accountability.
• Anonymous LLCs allow bad landlords to get away with code violations and other forms of negligence.
• Anonymous LLCs are consistently tied to campaign finance violations. 

It's time to tell our state legislators to pass the LLC Transparency Act (A3484 / S995)!

The LLC Transparency Act would create the first public beneficial ownership database in the United State and would ensure that any LLC doing business in New York would have to publicly disclose the name(s) of its beneficial owner(s) and their business addresses. It would also create penalties for anyone willfully filing fradulated benefical ownership information.
