Black, Queer, & Here is a support group specifically created to center the experiences of Black Queer folks who are over the age of 18. Our group session will take place every first Monday of the month at 6:30 pm. Our aim is to provide a nurturing and empowering space where we can focus on community care, connection, collective liberation, and mutual aid.
We understand that being part of the Black Queer community comes with unique challenges, and it is important to have a supportive network that recognizes and affirms our experiences. We believe in the power of connection and the strength that comes from sharing our stories, challenges, and triumphs with one another.
Community care is at the heart of our support group. We recognize that each member brings unique strengths, knowledge, and resources to the table. By coming together, we can create a supportive network that offers assistance, guidance, and empowerment to one another. Whether it's emotional support, resources, or advocacy, we believe in mutual aid as a means of uplifting the entire community.
Our group is committed to promoting collective liberation. We acknowledge that our experiences are influenced by systemic oppression, and we encourage members to actively engage in conversations about systemic issues, seeking ways to challenge oppressive structures. Through the embrace of mutual aid principles, we hope to cultivate an environment where we can uplift and support each other.
Our group sessions are facilitated by Black Community Health professionals who are well-versed in the experiences and challenges faced by Black Queer folks. They provide a non-judgmental and inclusive space where everyone's voice is valued and heard. These sessions will be co-facilitated by certified life-coach Xavier Graves (he/him) and Nikki Lewis, LPC-A (she/her).
We invite you to join our group on every first Monday. Together, we can foster community care, connection, collective liberation, and mutual aid as we navigate our unique journeys as Black Queer folks.
