Call on Congress to Fully Support Vote-by-Mail and the U.S. Postal Service

Call on Congress to Fully Fund Vote-by-Mail
and the U.S. Postal Service

As the coronavirus continues to impact the health and safety of all Americans, this pandemic is also creating unique concerns surrounding our ability to conduct elections. Free and fair elections are the cornerstone of our democracy, but Republicans, including President Trump, are laying the groundwork to force Americans to choose between their right to vote and their health by refusing to provide adequate funding for states to administer vote-by-mail, early voting, and other measures that would allow Americans to vote safely and securely. President Trump has also rejected providing critical funds to ensure the U.S. Postal Service continues to function properly, which is essential to ensure that Americans can safely by mail.

As states continue to delay their primaries and social distancing becomes standard practice, we must demand that Congress fully fund vote-by-mail elections in all 50 states, and fully fund the U.S. Postal Service. While Congress recently provided $400 million for election security grants, we know that vote-by-mail and post office assistance will require significant funding to ensure that states have adequate resources and infrastructure to conduct vote-by-mail. Without these resources, many states and localities will be unable to keep voting safe and secure.

No one should have to choose between their health and their right to vote. Write your Members of Congress Calling on them to Fully Fund Vote-by-Mail and the U.S. Postal Service.
