Gov. DeSantis, spare the Florida black bear! Please veto Florida HB 87

Alaqua Animal Refuge and Animal Wellness Action are respectfully asking  Gov. DeSantis to veto Florida House Bill 87 (Taking of Bears). This retrograde bill is on his desk for signature and would allow anyone to kill a black bear on private property—as long as they “felt threatened” by it.  That standard is too subjective and will be a private license to kill a bear!

Please add your name TODAY!

There has never been a reported incident of a black bear killing a human in Florida. Not one. The bears, however, have not fared so well. This bill creates opportunities to indiscriminately kill bears who innocently wander onto someone's land and may even create instances where people lure bears onto private property just for the sake of killing them.

Once you have added your name and information below, please take a moment to call Gov. DeSantis's office at (850) 717-9337. Tell his staff that you oppose HB 87 and want Gov. DeSantis to veto it.

Time is short! We have just days to take action. Please act now.
