Holocaust education effectively reduces antisemitism, as new data from an Anti-Defamation League survey confirms. The survey found that when people learn about the Holocaust, they are less likely to believe anti-Jewish tropes. Unfortunately, Holocaust education is not required in every state, and where mandated it is unclear that it is taught to maximize its impact.
The HEAL Act will help provide the federal government with critical information on Holocaust education across the nation in order to identify gaps. It will commission the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum to research which schools currently require and offer lessons on the Holocaust, what materials and lessons schools offer, and how schools measure students' understanding.
Effective Holocaust education is critical to fighting antisemitism. As a concerned constituent, urge your legislators to support and co-sponsor H.R. 603, the Holocaust Education and Antisemitism Lessons (HEAL) Act.
