In 2018, the World Bank estimated that Latin America, sub-Saharan Africa, and Southeast Asia, will generate 143 million climate migrants by 2050. In 2017, 68.5 million people were forcibly displaced, more than at any point in human history. Approximately one-third of these were forced to move by “sudden onset” weather events—flooding, forest fires after droughts, and intensified storms.
Florida is home to many climate displaced families. Our communities know that climate change is real and ACTION must be taken to protect us all.
By signing this petition you are joining our communities as we demand climate action NOW. Local, State and Federal goverment must take action to slow the effects of climate change, reform immigration policies, and lead multilateral efforts to address the climate crisis.
