Fires impact rivers in many ways - from increased runoff that sends toxic materials into waterways, increased erosion, and sedimentation, to changes in stream temperature. To address these impacts, Rogue Riverkeeper is monitoring for potential pollutants entering our local waterways that provide drinking water and habitat for fish.
We are kicking off a new photomonitoring program. If you are interested in volunteering to take specified photos in the Bear Creek or Little Butte riparian areas for the next several months (or years!) please fill out the form below.
Specifically, we are looking for volunteers who:
- are available to take photos at the same designated photopoints at the same time every month
- are available to visit their photopoints after a rain event, even if that falls outside the monthly schedule
- have smartphones with high resolution cameras
- have a mapping application (i.e. google maps) on their smartphones
- are familiar with Google Drive and know how upload photos
- have attention to details and a commitment to capturing consistent images
