OLD FOURTH WARD HAS BEEN PRESCRIBED A NEW HOSPITAL! 

NGP and GA Cares demand an end to hospital closures around our state and the re-opening of Atlanta Medical Center in Atlanta's Old Fourth Ward neighborhood. Sign our petition and become a Healthcare Hottie with our My Community, My Hospital campaign to demand expanded access to comprehensive, affordable healthcare services around Georgia.  

Currently, Georgia ranks third in the country for the most closed hospitals. Hospital closures have had a huge impact on Georgia's rural communities, cutting off basic healthcare services like ambulatory care, access to OB/GYNs, and even primary care. Last year, this problem came to Atlanta. WellStar Health Systems closed Atlanta Medical Center (AMC) on Nov. 1 – one of only two Level 1 trauma centers in Atlanta and one of two major hospitals that focuses on care for low-income and uninsured patients.  This is the eleventh hospital to close in Georgia since 2008. 

This is unacceptable. We believe that healthcare is a human right and hospital closures are an impending death sentence to Georgia's residents.
