Urge Congress to support HR 4952 to protect veteran access to airplanes with their service dogs.
Military veterans traveling with certified service dogs for work or pleasure shouldn't face frustrating obstacles at the airport when trying to board their plane. But ambiguities in the law often cause confusion for airline staff, resulting in embarrassment for veterans.
HR 4952 seeks to fix this issue. This legislation, titled “Strengthening Support for Veterans with Service Animals Act,” directs the Secretary of Transportation to require air carriers to permit eligible service animals to accompany eligible veterans during travel. It also outlines the specific documentation airline staff should review when boarding these veterans.
