This is an application to join a Learning Cohort in the Community Animator Network (CAN) program. Members of CAN, which we refer to as Animators, complete a 12-week training on community organizing using Asset-Based Community Development. This includes 3 in-person workshops, weekly 1-hour virtual meetings, and engaging in mini-experiments that spark social and civic engagement in the community. This program is great for individuals who are passionate about their community and would like to gain resources and peer-support through their journey. You must be at least 18 years old to apply.
By the end of the Learning Cohort, Animators know how to:
Engage in learning conversations
Discover and activate individual capacities
Be a connector
Build an asset map
Host a gathering with neighbors
Celebrate community engagement
Animators who complete a Learning Cohort are eligible to move into the second phase of CAN, the Community Building Cohort, which allows Animators to dive deep into their learnings from Phase 1 and create a neighborhoood or community-based project of their choice. Time commitment for the Phase 1 Learning Cohort is 5 hours per week at a $18 hourly rate.
Please note that applicants from traditionally underrepresented groups will be prioritized.
