Stop the use of GonaCon on the TRNP herd

Speak up for the Theodore Roosevelt National Park wild horses!!!

Since 2009, the Theodore Roosevelt National Park wild horses have been experimented on with the controversial drug GonaCon.  In 2024, the park got even more aggressive when they planned to hand inject EVERY mare with this controversial drug during the wild horse roundup that took place in October.  It has been proven through the experiment on these horses that hand injecting gives the greatest efficacy.

Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates was able to stop EVERY mare from being hand injected with GonaCon, but about 1/3 of the mares did receive a hand injection of GonaCon.

We thought that since the park was so aggressive in 2024, that they would NOT be using GonaCon in 2025.

WE WERE WRONG!!

In our meeting last week with the new interim Superintendent Rachel Daniels and Chief of Resource Management, Blake McCann, they DO plan on continuing the use of GonaCon on this herd in 2025!!

The aggressive treatment of GonaCon called into question how much of a reproductive herd of wild horses do we actually have at Theodore Roosevelt National Park?

We are NOT against the use of fertility control to manage the population numbers.  We are asking that if fertility control needs to be used for non-responders or mares who are able to return to fertility in time, that PZP be used responsibly on this herd.

Please take a moment to send an email to the people who can help make this happen.
