Join SEIU 925!

Stronger Together at UW: Be Part of SEIU!

Being a union member means having a strong voice for good jobs, living wages, healthy families, and a thriving democracy. By joining together with the over 19,000 SEIU 925 members in Washington State, we will have the power to ensure that the University of Washington works for us, our students, and the communities we serve.

When you sign this card, you will become a member of SEIU 925's UW Advising Staff union chapter. (Click here to fill out a different form if you are not Advising staff.) Advising staff at UW are raising the standard of the Advising profession by organizing for fair and equitable pay, professional development, workload sustainability, and working conditions that empower us to serve our students as best we can!

The two paragraphs below indicate that you:
  1) want to become a member of SEIU 925 (for Advising staff, this means having a union election first); and
  2) authorize paying union dues after our first Collective Bargaining Agreement has been ratified. (Union dues are currently set at 1.7% of gross annual pay.)

Although we consider ourselves union members once we sign this card, nobody will pay any dues until we have voted yes to win our union, bargained our first contract, and voted to accept our first contract. Join us - we are stronger together!

Membership and Dues Authorization

Yes, I want to join with my co-workers and become a member of SEIU Local 925. I hereby request and voluntarily accept membership in SEIU Local 925 and its successors or assigns (collectively “Local 925”). This means I will receive the benefits and abide by the obligations of membership set forth in both Local 925's and the Service Employees International Union's Constitutions and Bylaws. I authorize SEIU Local 925 to act as my representative in collective bargaining over wages, benefits, and other terms/conditions of employment with my employer, and as my exclusive representative where authorized by law. My membership will be continuous, unless I resign by providing notice to Local 925 via US mail (or other methods if permitted by Local 925's policies), Local 925 is authorized to deposit this authorization with my current Employer(s) and with any other Employer who has entered into a Collective Bargaining Agreement with SEIU Local 925.  This authorization will remain effective if my employment with the Employer is terminated and I am later re-employed by the Employer.  I know that membership in the union is voluntary and not a condition of my employment, and that I can decline to join without reprisal.  I am signing to join with my co-workers so we can win for our families, in our workplace and communities.

I hereby request and voluntarily authorize my employer to deduct from my earnings and pay to Local 925 and its successors and assigns (collectively “Local 925”) an amount equal to Local 925's regular dues.   This authorization is made in consideration for the cost of representation and other actions on my behalf by my Union. This dues deduction authorization shall remain in effect unless I revoke it by providing notice to SEIU 925 via U.S. mail (or other method if permitted by Local 925's policies) within 15 days before or after (1) the annual anniversary date of this agreement or (2) the termination of the applicable collective bargaining agreement between my employer and union (“my window periods”). This authorization will renew automatically from year to year even if I have resigned my membership, unless I revoke it during one of my window periods and as required by SEIU 925's policies. This authorization is voluntary and is not a condition of my employment, and I can decline to agree to it without reprisal. I understand that all members benefit from everyone's commitments because together we build a strong union that is able to plan for the future.
