WAYS TO GIVE

Make a Gift of Stock

This is an excellent option for people who have appreciated securities. Donating appreciated assets can create tax benefits such as receiving a tax deduction the same size as a cash donation while avoiding capital gains tax.

Many donors use the charitable swap approach. Instead of giving cash, you give appreciated stock. You can then use cash to buy the same number of shares in the same company. Your portfolio stays the same, but now the capital gains are removed.

Give through a Donor Advised Fund or IRA

Do you have a Donor Advised Fund (DAF) or are you curious about how they work? DAFs are easier to create than ever and a great way to contribute.You may be eligible to make a qualifying charitable distribution from your IRA. If you meet the criteria, your gift can be counted toward satisfying your required minimum distributions. Be sure to check with your financial advisor before considering this option.

Donate through your business

Do you own or work for a business looking to support the environment through charitable giving or sponsorship? MountainTrue has a variety of ways we can partner with your business, such as sponsoring Swim Guide or one of our signature events.
