The rights of #PeopleLikeUs are under attack. At the local and national level, establishment politicians are working to make it harder for us to use our vote as our voice, protect the outsized influence special interests have in our elections, and limit who can participate in the electoral process.

This is unacceptable, un-American, and puts our democracy at risk.

Right now, the United States Senate has the chance to hear and vote on H.R. 1, the For the People Act, legislation that will usher in a wave of progressive democracy reform. The House of Representatives has already passed this historic resolution which will make it easier to vote, repeal Citizens United through a constitutional amendment, create federal election public financing opportunities, and more. Yet despite having more than a month to act, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has yet to even grant a hearing for this bill that is critical to our country's future.
