Public Petition to UPMC Executives:

Allegheny County is facing a spiraling mental health and addiction crisis and all resources need to be brought to bear on solutions, especially making sure UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital is fully staffed and operational. Western Psych is our region's largest behavioral health facility and treats all types of patients – from children to seniors – struggling with mental illness. But Western Psych is unable to adequately address the crisis because dozens of beds are closed due to severe understaffing, burnout and turnover. UPMC had $27 billion in revenue and $8 billion in cash and investments last year. You must use your massive resources to invest in retaining and recruiting nurses so Western Psychiatric patients receive the compassionate, effective treatment they deserve!
