Join the Workers Center for Racial Justice (WCRJ) in supporting our Formerly Incarcerated Person (FIP) legislation for equitable job Access.
The SAFER Communities Act (HB 3491/SB 1771) is a grassroots policy proposal that would promote job access for formerly incarcerated Illinoisans, improve public safety in our communities, and deliver economic relief for thousands of local businesses in communities most impacted by mass incarceration. It would establish a living wage job creation program for formerly incarcerated residents and offer local employers wage subsidies for hiring candidates with conviction records into newly created, high-quality jobs.
Join WCRJ as we continue to convene community leaders, lawmakers, impacted individuals, and businesses to pass and fund the SAFER Communities Act;
