Our Mission

Nafahat is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building community centered around spiritual practice. The name comes from a tradition of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ wherein he says: Your Lord has nafahat (fragrant exhalations) [of His mercy] in these days of your time—so expose yourselves to them. Perhaps you will attain a whiff of them, after which you will never know despair (Tabarani). 

The gentle breezes from these exhalations waft into our lives from sacred times, like the month of Ramadan, or sacred spaces, like gatherings where people remember God and the Prophet ﷺ. We aim to expose ourselves to these breaths of God's mercy through regular gatherings of remembrance and nurturing companionship.
