Protect Our Health: Hold PFAS Polluters Accountable

I am writing to ask you to support House Bills 1286 and 1553, and to oppose Senate bill 538.

As your constituent, I urge you take decisive action to limit PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) in our state, and to stand firm against efforts by manufacturers to deregulate them. These harmful "forever chemicals" are pervasive in our homes, water, and food, posing serious health risks to our families. Elevated levels of PFAS have already been detected in water sources statewide. Addressing this issue at its source is essential to limiting exposure to these dangerous chemicals.

While Indiana has taken important steps to recognize the dangers PFAS pose to firefighters and military members on the job, more action is needed to protect all residents, including in their homes. By implementing source regulations and holding polluters accountable, we can ensure a safer future for our communities. Additionally, we must not allow corporate interests to dictate our actions regarding public health.

Please prioritize strong, protective measures against PFAS, including support for House Bil 1286 and House Bill 1553.
I also urge you to resist any attempts at premature deregulation, including opposing Senate Bill 538.
