Housing in Cabarrus County has reached a crisis point. Cabarrus is 5th in the state for highest number of evictions, and currently our county government spends $0 on affordable housing projects. It's time to attack this problem at the source.
We hereby petition the County Commission to:

Create a new, revolving door fund that would issue low-interest loans to nonprofit housing organizations to fund new development projects

Allocate 1% of the county's budget ($5 million) into this fund
This fund would allow for creation of new, affordable-forever housing stock in the county by exclusively nonprofit housing organizations, improving the problem of affordable housing at its source.
