We, the undersigned concerned residents of the City of Superior, urge officials to oppose the proposed NTEC Power Plant.

This project endangers our community's health, threatening increased rates of asthma, respiratory infection hospitalization rates, and COPD hospitalization rates. (Source: National Institutes of Health research). Additionally, pollutants from gas plants have already outpaced those from coal plants as contributors to death in 19 states. (Source: Harvard research).

The construction of this gas plant exposes sacred tribal burial grounds to the possibility that past exposure to abuse, damage, and disinterment could be repeated.

The EPA has estimated that this facility would cause around $2 billion in climate damage from greenhouse gas emissions, all while Superior is already overburdened with dangerous industrial infrastructure, waste, and pollution.

For these reasons and more, it is clear that Superior cannot accept the costs and dangers of this plant being constructed. It will put the city's environment, economy, and health at risk while offering little to nothing in return. We absolutely cannot afford it.

We urge elected officials in Superior, Wisconsin to oppose the proposed NTEC power plant: deny permits and send the message that the residents of Superior come first.

We urge federal officials including the USDA to deny subsidies and/or loans for the proposed NTEC power plant.
