Seattle's Democracy Voucher Program (DVP) has changed local elections for the better—giving everyday people a bigger voice, making it possible for more diverse candidates to run, and reducing the influence of big money in politics, and more.
Now it's time to renew funding of the program—and the decision starts with the City Council. We're calling on the Council to pass an ordinance that will place a levy renewal on the August primary ballot to keep democracy vouchers fully funded for the next 10 years. This vote isn't to renew the program outright—it's to let Seattle voters decide its future.
Please join us in emailing your councilmembers to urge them to pass CB 120957 and support renewal of Seattle's Democracy Voucher Program! We are also encouraging community members to share their democracy voucher stories—personal narratives are so much more compelling than just a form email. Please take a moment to add your name and a paragraph or two about what the program means to you.
Let's ensure that our elected officials understand the importance of the DVP in building a government that truly reflects, represents, and respects us.
