Why Working Groups?

As the only transit rider advocacy organization in San Francisco, we empower everyday transit riders to raise their collective voices to advocate for pro-rider policies. Our members give us the political, financial and volunteer power to accomplish goals we would otherwise not be able to achieve. Working groups build on SFTR's rich history of member-led advocacy, helping to define and lead our rider-first agenda.

SFTR's Member-led Working Groups:

Transit Funding Working Group:

The goal of this group is to raise the voice of riders to evaluate options and build the political will for equitable transportation funding measures in 2022 and beyond. This includes doing outreach and education about the $400M Transportation GO Bond on the June 2022 Ballot, the Transportation Sales Tax on the November 2022 Ballot, and tracking the SFMTA budget and additional funding opportunities at the city and county level. The Local Funding Working Group meets on the third Thursday of every month at 6pm.

Transit Planning Working Group:

The Transit Planning Working Group helps craft and advocate for a rider-led vision of San Francisco's transportation network. It works to implement our vision of a network of Rapid Muni routes that centers the needs of riders and connects neighborhoods across the city with frequent, reliable, fast service that runs end-to-end in 30 minutes by 2030. It also discusses, evaluates, and advocates for transit priority improvements including and beyond our 30x30 vision with the support of riders and CBOs in equity-priority communities. The Transit Planning Working Group meets on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 6pm.
