Fandoms like Star Wars are critical spaces where people across races, backgrounds, and generations hang out and make meaningful connections. They're also cultural battlegrounds that fascist and supremacist factions use to pull fans into real life authoritarian politics. But Star Wars is a story of antifascist rebellion and fans like us have a unique opportunity with Andor season 2 to intervene and organize for a country not so far, far away.
For many, Star Wars was our first introduction to the idea of resistance to fascism in fiction, even if we didn't realize it when watching as children. While certain parts of the fandom have always discussed its political ramifications, Andor's first season kicked that into overdrive, and many Star Wars fans felt galvanized by its messages. Nemik's Weekly Manifesto aims to bridge the gap between the story and messages of Andor and the real life history and theory of antifascist movements.
